My concientious self - consider your responsibility sacred

3 years ago I started having serious problems with my energy balance and became "Burned out"
Yesterday I was for the first time 100% back at my professional work as a culture coordinator. A profession which is at times very demanding - and with a lot of responsibilities
I hope I have learned a lesson, and that I will make the right decisions about what to consider sacred  - on this sacred planet Earth..

One thing I know for sure: The editing of "SufiNews from Europe" is important! You may download the latest issue  - which is all about Sufi healing on our website: www.sufi.no

Copper Rule no.2

My concientious self: Be polite to all

I remember the story of Pir O Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan who; when taking his daily walks in the streets of Suresnes, never passed the grumpy, hostile french construction worker without a polite: "How do You do, Sir"
Every day he repeated his polite greeting - with no response except for a perhaps even more hostile attitude from the frenchman
Until one day  - the man surrended to Murshids polite respect, and answered him: "Bonjour, Monsieur"

Seek not profit by putting someone in straits and Harm no one for your own benefit

The two last iron rules seemed first so easy to follow
- until I started thinking globally..
What about my savings account in the bank? How am I to know where my money is invested? What if they are invested in a company that destroy the rain forests? Even though the amount is small  - they are still my money
And
Will I ever be able to eat chicken again? 30 days they live  - our tiny, yellow fellow creatures - in their narrow cages  - fed as fast and economically as possible  - to obtain some profit. Because   - the farmer is not really to blaim
Capitalism have infused our sacred earth with rational profit seeking values.

I cannot eat chicken anymore ....
Maybe I'll find a bank with ethical values that can guard my savings till I retire from work. Then I can use them to buy small yellow chickens, that I will feed and love until they are grownup hens who give me eggs to eat.  Surely for more than 30 days!
And I will eat them - together with my bread and rice  - because I do not like the LowCarbo diets either. It is a most unethical diet!
One day - maybe - I will become a knight of purity - My first battle will be the promotion of rice and bread and potatoes :-)))

Do not spare yourself in the work you have to accomplish and Render your services faithfully to all who require them

Two years ago I collapsed with a Burnout. Brought up in a Christian culture, I was taught to put others and their needs before my own

Pir Zia describes the true meaning of these rules: What are my true priorities - what work must I accomplish? And I must learn to know when my help is really required..
I read his commentaries on the Rules at http://www.sufiorder.org/IronRules7.html
For the moment I am slowly recovering... and send light and blessings to all burning souls

My concientious self - Do not reproach others, making them firm in their faults

This rule is in a way easier to follow - having reached the mature age - life has taught me to be more humble.
There is so much to deal with in my own life, so why waste my time on finding faults in others?

We are our own worst enemies - they say

My concientious self - Do not claim that which belongs to another

It is not by wanting
to experience another realm that we get there,
but by being completely aware of every action,
every sound and colour
around us
every relationship..

My conscientious self, do not boast of your good deeds.

"Many do good - but how few do it wisely?
To do good wisely is the work of the Sage"

From Aphorisms by Hazrat Inayat Khan

My conscientious self: Do not take advantage of a person's ignorance

My conscientious heart...
One hundred and twenty days talking to my heart,
Trying to obey
Sometimes excited by our journey
... often caught in limitations
Always on the path...

"Watch your actions, thoughts and speech",
my heart beats
